Programming the Universe
by Seth Lloyd
About the book
Programming the Universe by Seth Lloyd (2006) argues that the universe is, at bottom, a quantum computer: every particle carries information, and physical processes are literally computations. Lloyd, an MIT physicist and pioneer of quantum computing, explains how information theory and quantum mechanics combine to describe reality, and how this view sheds light on complexity, the arrow of time and the origins of structure in the cosmos. It connects naturally to my Mathematics on Computers and binary notes.
