About the book

Sir Roger Penrose (born 1931) is a British mathematical physicist, awarded the 2020 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work showing that black-hole formation is a robust prediction of general relativity. His contributions range across pure mathematics (Penrose tilings, twistor theory) and physics (singularity theorems with Stephen Hawking). He is also known for provocative books arguing that human consciousness is non-computational, The Emperor’s New Mind and Shadows of the Mind, and for the monumental survey of physics and its mathematics, The Road to Reality.
