In this edition, our hero, The Vikid Truth, has a crisis of confidence. Zeno, before his death in the last episode, uttered a few barely audible words that questioned the very Nature of Truth, our superheroes only power.

Now, Vikid can barely sleep, he wonders the world aimlessly, mumbling, “What does it all mean?”…

Prelude: The Vikid Origins…

Where to start but perhaps in the middle?

He was a confused creature with the right upbringing & education. Truth was something he was pondered in between getting high and drunk every other evening. He got a job in the city, in which he had nothing to do and so he picked up a book. There began a journey. Two years later he came out, utterly confused but highly confident, as young men are, about everything. Needless to say it led to disaster, one after the other, until he was a spent force fumbling through meaningless existence.

Then one day, deep into an ancient meditation, on a bed of volcanic rock, in the eternal blue, he was bitten by an alien creature…

these are the origins of The Vikid Truth.

The Wandering

Several books have been written about Truth, enough to fill a library, and Vikid had wandered through many of them. However, he didn’t pretend to understand much. In fact the more he read, the less he understood. At first, he thought it was because he was stupid. Later, he understood it is because the authors themselves were confused, using big words and bigger concepts to cover for it.

The first point to make and what he realized, is that Truth, at the minimum, is a concept. It was a bridge between the noumenal world and reality. That is, between the stuff of thoughts and the world at large.

Usually called the “Correspondence Theory of Truth” and there were other theories (coherence, pragmatic, redundancy, and semantic) but he found they were terribly boring to get through.

Vikid didn’t think The Truth is boring, whatever it is.

If Truth, was something that can be thought of, spoken and hopefully written down, then it had the property that it can be tested against some bigger reality. If this thought, matched reality, we called it True.

This was just another way of saying,

“Truth is a description of Reality”.

Or at the limit,

Truth is Reality.

But no one knew what Reality really is or if it even existed. And if it did, what was its structure and nature? Were thoughts reality too or just what came through the senses? Could we trust our own thoughts and memories?

People from all ages realized that all we have is the content of our own minds. Our senses were manifestations in mind, as were thoughts.

So some people said, “Mind is all there is”.

Which, while maybe True, wasn’t very helpful at all..

On the other side of the coin. Other people said, *“*Mind is just what Stuff is doing. There is only stuff interacting with stuff, lawfully. We can figure out the laws. The laws are True.”

But if you sat for a moment and thought it through, while it had utility (law’s could be used), it didn’t make any sense either.

Where did the stuff come from?

The most common answer Vikid got was, “It came out of The laws”.

But then, what were Laws? How did they exist? How could a bit or matter or a field or whatever, “know” to obey The Laws? And where did these Laws come from?

And what was the nature of “Interacting”?

Nobody could answer that either and worse still,

The Laws looked like Mind Stuff.

Furthermore, some big brains like Emmy Noether, noticed that what is True, doesn’t change. Something remained invariant under transformation. We could translate between minds, between times and between places. And we could agree on what didn’t change. That was called Objectivity.

That was all a Law really is, a description of how something remained the same, while all about it was change.

Which other people realized is Symmetry by another name.

That big “=” sign in every equation, was the notion of invariance and symmetry. This ‘side’ is the ‘same’ as the ‘other side’.

But then the big question became, “Why is the world so Asymmetric then?”

The Matter Team, (aka The Philosophers) came out with various theories of “Breaking Symmetry”, “The Theory of Everything" etc. whereas the Mind Team (aka The Spiritualists) had come out with the concepts of “Original Sin”, “Good and Evil”, “The Universal Mind” etc. a long time before that.

Straight lines at infinities are Circles and,

Circles at infinities are straight lines.

Vikid realized they are essentially the same thing. The same Rose with a different name. One Side emphasized meaning and the other side emphasized utility. One focused on the Noumenal Side of the Bridge and the other on the Worldly Side.

But no one understood the Bridge itself.

Ultimately Vikid Understood. That Matter and Mind to be the same thing. Synonyms. Perhaps there was no bridge, because it didn’t exist in the first place.

The Mind Team had understood that what never changed was awareness itself. The content of awareness changed, person to person, time to time, place to place. But awareness itself didn’t change. It was as if there was just One Mind. Many called it God.

One Mind in many Personalities. Broken Symmetry.

The Matter Team realized, “There is One Law” governing the many facets of Reality. Broken Symmetry.

Mind at the infinite was Matter and Matter at the other infinite was Mind.

Gobbledygook.

Truth was a mind game.

and

Reality was Nature’s Truth game.

So, Vikid rested calmly and thanked Zeno for his parting words.

For this was,

The Vikid Truth
